Pininfarina Extra,

is part of the world-famous design house Pininfarina, whose history goes back to 1930 when the company was founded by Battista Pinin-Farina and is one of the most renowned car designers of its time. For example, the Cisitalia 202 by Pininfarina (1947) was the first and only car to receive a permanent exhibition at MoMA in New York in 1961. To date, Pininfarina has designed more than 100 Ferrari cars that have gone into production.
The company’s main activities include industrial design (electronics, sporting goods, furniture, equipment and machinery, consumer goods, graphic design and packaging), architecture and interior design (residential, catering, sports and commercial buildings) and transport design (yachts, aircraft, private jets, people movers).

Pininfarina’s design team was inspired by the dynamics, elegance and purity of sea waves, the empty space created when a wave is broken, resulting in a hollow or tubular wave (onda in Italian).
The heart of the collection is the structure, an aluminium band that supports the cushions and becomes the iconic element of the entire collection. Characterised by flowing lines – like those of the wave – the band behind it.

The choice of materials comes from Pininfarina’s 360° design experience: aluminium – from the automotive sector – for the structure, fabrics – in yachts for their resistance – for the cushions.
The collection consists of a modular sofa, a two-seater sofa, an armchair and a coffee table.

“We looked at the magic of nature to bring Onda to life, which is unmistakable and can be integrated into different environments at the same time. Technology and know-how from different industries make it truly unique,” confirms Paolo Pininfarina, President of Pininfarina.
